What is Botox?

Botox is a neurotoxin, a protein that comes from botulinum toxin. When injected into specific facial or neck muscles, Botox disrupts nerve impulses to those muscles. This relaxes the muscles that cause moderate to severe facial wrinkles. 

Essentially, Botox temporarily stops you from creating wrinkle-causing movements like heavy squinting or drawing your brows together when you frown. 

What kind of wrinkles does Botox treat?

Botox can treat the wrinkles that happen after years of muscle contractions. The main treatment areas are:

  • The brow area, including between your brows
